JAK X RMIT VM

It’s a collaboration! Our long standing relationship with RMIT’s Visual Merchandising Department is no secret to anyone who knows us. JAK Creative Founders Jane Klose and Kerryn Howell actually met in the hallowed corridors of RMIT’s School of Design 🤩

Essentially, RMIT Visually Merchandising is the reason for JAK Creative’s existence!

Golden Week

An exploration and celebration of Golden Week…

… Ideas of family, freedom, travel, art, interiors, luxe aesthetics and a touch of the Orient…

Golden Week is something we discovered only a couple of years ago. As with many new things we discover at JAK, this was brought to our attention by a potential client (Nah, we didn’t get the job).

Inspiration Carousel

More and more, I’m loving the idea of things having a second, third or many lives. An Inspiration Carousel if you will.

There is a certain magic in discovering an item and being inspired to create something new. The thought of multiple unknown stories layered into the life of an object is quite romantic to me.

Sustainability Journey (The story of a cardboard tube)

It began with a request and ended with…well it hasn’t ended yet 🙂 This is the story of sustainable design and giving back, repurposing and the joy of seeing things live on in new and wonderful and creative ways.

Earlier this year we were given a brief to produce a high concept and highly sustainable event design for the packaging industry. This brief really encouraged us to look inward to our own sustainability practices and inspired some new thinking. This brief spurred us to strive even further with our designs and our approach to contributing to a more sustainable industry.

Bertazzoni Australia – A Brand Story

Every once in a while we have the pleasure of working with a very special brand with a very special story. What makes these ‘unicorn’ brands so special is when they also come with an incredible team of inspired visionaries. Thanks to TimeOut Melbourne for bestowing us with the title of ‘Full Blown Wizards’ in this article. We feel very humbled and magical indeed 🙂

Top 3 event themes of 2018

In December last year I submitted an article which was published in Spice News, I know,  a bit fancy right? It covered the Top 3 event themes for 2018. The process of writing this article got me seriously inspired about our work at JAK and the ideas we had created and the wonderful events we have produced. It’s not often we take the time to gather our thoughts in that way to reflect and assess. And perhaps we should! All to often we are looking ahead to the next thing that needs our attention as opposed celebrating our achievements.

To read the Spice Article, which is a superbly edited version and quite frankly makes me seem very knowledgable,  visit this link.  For the the Directors Cut, read on! Read More

Styling tips for your Christmas events

Every year we encounter a few clients who are short on time for taking care of their ‘End of Year Celebrations’. As a result we have become quite savvy at navigating these short turnarounds to ensure them a spectacular event regardless.

This week JAK Creative worked with our friends at A LIST Guide to create an Express Guide to Christmas styling. You can read the original article here or read on for the JAKspiration version! Read More

Flower Power

Arrangements and table styling. Installations, chandeliers and walls. There is not too much in event spaces we won’t put a flower with or on. And everyone seems to feel the same way! I’m not sure if I was prepared to have this classic element tie for top position, but it did get me thinking a lot about it… Read More
